After Just One Season In Charge Mauricio Pochettino Has Left His Position As Chelsea Head Coach By Mutual Consent

Mauricio Pochettino Leaves Chelsea by Mutual Consent

After just one season in charge, Mauricio Pochettino has left his position as Chelsea head coach by mutual consent.

The Argentinian manager joined the Blues in July 2023, but has been unable to end his search for a first trophy in English soccer after spells at Tottenham and Southampton.

Pochettino led Chelsea to the Champions League semi-finals and a third-place finish in the Premier League in his first season, but the club has struggled for consistency this term and are currently ninth in the table.

The 51-year-old was linked with the Manchester United job earlier this season, but he insisted he was happy at Chelsea and wanted to stay at the club.

However, it is understood that Pochettino and the Chelsea board have been in discussions about his future for several weeks, and it was mutually agreed that he would leave the club.

Chelsea are now on the lookout for a new manager, with former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel and Brighton head coach Roberto De Zerbi among the favourites to replace Pochettino.

Pochettino's departure is a major blow to Chelsea, who were hoping to challenge for the Premier League title this season. The Blues have not won a major trophy since they lifted the FA Cup in 2018.

Pochettino is a highly-rated coach, and his departure is sure to attract interest from other clubs around Europe. He has a proven track record of success, and he is likely to be in high demand.
